This film is adapted from the original work by manga artist Daisuke Igarashi. Two condensed editions of "Little Forest Summer and Autumn Edition" and "Little Forest Winter and Spring Edition". The story tells of an ordinary girl, Ichiko (played by Ai Hashimoto), who chooses to return to her hometown where she grew up - Komori Village, located in the northeastern region of Japan.
