The family of eight-year-old boy Bruno (played by Asa Butterfield) moved from Berlin to the countryside with a transfer order from his Nazi officer father. Bruno, who had lost his friends, soon became interested in the "farm" near his new home. There, a group of people in "striped pajamas" were busy all day long, and one of them served the Bruno family. He described it as dirty and was cautious in his attitude. The surrounding environment and Bruno's behavior secretly worried his mother, but the Nazi father stopped any behavior at home that doubted the established policies. Bruno secretly met a boy of the same age, Schmul, on the other side of the barbed wire and often brought him food to eat. Amid the tense family atmosphere and his sister's transition into the adult world, Schmul was Bruno's only friend. One day, Bruno decided to go to the other side of the barbed wire so as to see Schmul's father... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by John Byrne and won the Audience Choice Award at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival.[Collapse]
