Gustav (played by Lino Ventura) is a seasoned gangster. After being imprisoned, he racked his brains and finally succeeded in escaping from prison. Later, Gustav sought refuge with his sister Manucci (played by Christine Fabrega) who lived in Paris, hoping to obtain her protection. Gustav had long been tired of the open and covert power struggles within the gang. Therefore, he decided to team up with a group of outlaw criminals to make one last attempt and raise enough "pension" to retire. However, having been deeply involved in the underworld for so many years, would he really change his appearance so easily? Detective Brote (played by Paul Meurisse) follows Gustav closely like an eagle chasing its prey. He has no desire for money or power.
