Omar (played by Omar Metwally), a 28-year-old doctoral student, decides to write a biographical novel about the writer Jude Guande, whose future and career are closely linked to this novel. According to relevant records, Jude had already committed suicide. His elder brother Adam (played by Anthony Hopkins), his wife Caroline (played by Laura Linney), and his mistress Yarden (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg) are the only three people in the world who are associated with Jude. For some reason, all three of them turned down Omar's request to obtain authorization for the novel. Persuaded by his girlfriend Tideli (played by Alexandra Maria Lara), the unwilling Omar decides to visit their mansion in a remote town in Uruguay in person. Omar's arrival broke the tranquility of the small town, and a long-buried past gradually came to light.[Collapse]
