The story takes place in West Germany in 1958. Johan (played by Alexander Fehling) is a court prosecutor specializing in handling lawsuits related to violations of traffic safety laws. One day, in the court, he happened to run into a journalist named Thomas (played by Andre Szymanski) who was loudly accusing a middle school teacher. He claimed that the teacher had been a monitor at Auschwitz Concentration camp during World War II but had now escaped legal punishment. The occurrence of this incident triggered deep reflection in Johan. He began to pay attention to the perception and attitude of the people around him towards Germany's past atrocities, and the result shocked him. So, Johan decided to start looking for the survivors of Auschwitz concentration camp and have them identify the war criminals who were still at large. As the investigation deepened, Qiao Han was shocked to find that the number of people involved in this entire incident was so large that even he himself could not escape blame.[Collapse]
