The story takes place in Oklahoma in 1906. Henry (played by Tim Blake Nelson) comes here with his son Wyatt (played by Gavin Lewis) to settle down and start running a farm. As early as ten years ago, Henry's wife passed away. Over the years, Henry has always hoped that he could teach Wyatt how to be self-reliant. Henry's brother-in-law Al (played by Trace Adkins) is the only helper in this family. One day, Henry met an injured man named Corey (played by Scott Haze) by the roadside. With him were a gun and a bag of money. Henry took Corey home and hid his weapons and money.
