"Focus" is a column of the Boston Globe. Robbie Robinson (played by Michael Keaton) is the editor of the Focus column. The column has an independent investigation team whose members include Sasha Pfeffer (played by Rachel McAdams), Michael (played by Mark Ruffo), and Matt Carroll (played by Brian Darcy James). When Marty Barron (played by Levi Schreibol) takes over as the editor-in-chief of The Globe, he begins to assign Robinson and his team to closely follow a long-dormant case - a Catholic priest sexually harassing children in a parish. Although at first they thought it was just a small task, they soon discovered that there was a series of events hidden behind it, involving hundreds of victims. The church had privately compensated the victims and sent people to cover up these crimes. As the investigation delved deeper, they discovered more evidence of this conspiracy, not only among the clergy but also outside Boston and even around the world, where such atrocities were taking place. Robinson and his team were held back by local officials. Both within and outside the church, forces are putting pressure on them, trying to make them give up this case.[Collapse]
