This musical DVD is based on the life story of Jesus. Weber innovatively combines serious religious tales with avant-garde rock music, making it a work with very bold artistic expression and extremely profound ideological content. If "Joseph and the Magic Cloak" is a illustration of biblical stories, then "The Eternal Superstar" on the surface is simply a subversion and reaction to tradition: Jesus, the Son of God, no longer always wears the halo of a sage; he is weak, wavering, and more humanity replaces divinity. Judas' betrayal of his master was not due to greed but to the fate arranged by God. After his suicide, Judas, dressed in a white robe, led an angelic choir to ask Jesus several philosophical questions, but Jesus did not even know the answers. Careful readers will not find it difficult to notice the similarities between such a plot arrangement and the film "The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ". Just like the latter, the film was strongly protested by orthodox religious figures as soon as it was released, which instead increased its popularity. Its interludes "I don't know how to love Him" and "Superstar" have lingered on various record charts for a long time. The author feels that the original intention of this play is the same as that of "The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ", not to deviate from the conventional, but to present the martyrs' obedience to God through a tortuous form. Because at the end of the play, Jesus, in accordance with God's arrangement, sacrificed himself for the SINS of mankind and rose again, and after forgiving his enemies, ascended to heaven. If you have a deep understanding of Christianity, I believe this drama can still offer you some different perspectives for thinking. Of course, leaving the background aside, even if it is simply enjoyed as a rock musical, this DVD is not to be missed. Another version of the drama is the film of the same name produced by Universal Pictures in 1973. The style of Bible films gives people a more intimate feeling. Andrew. Lightway[Collapse]
