The film is adapted from the work of British children's book author Georgia Byng. The protagonist, Molly Monny, is an orphan girl who accidentally discovers a hypnosis book. She learns to hypnotize others. In a series of subsequent books, Molly also masters other abilities, including stopping time, time travel, reading others' thoughts and transforming. Molly became famous and wealthy in a New York competition by using hypnosis. However, another group of people also set their sights on that hypnosis book.
