The upright and kind-hearted Fujino Zhaoji (Takakura Ken) left Hakoya Shipyard where he had worked for many years because of differences with his boss. After that, he and his wife Maoko (Kato Denkiko) supported themselves and opened a tavern. At that time, friends in the factory, such as Ishita (Kunio Tanaka) and Akimoto (Masao Komatsu), often came here to drink and chat, and the tavern was full of cheerful and warm atmosphere.
