Middle-aged man A (played by Willem Dafoe) is a Greek-American director who is shooting an epic film about the love between parents' generations: In 1953, Irene (played by Irene Jacob), a Greek woman seeking political refuge in the Soviet Union, met her long-lost lover, Sabelos (played by Michel Piccoli). Their old love was rekindled, but after a night of affection, they were forced to be apart. Spiros was imprisoned, while Erene was exiled to Siberia. Soon after, she gave birth to her lover's child, but eventually had to be separated from it. She is missing her lover far away, while the Jew Jacob Levi (played by Bruno Ganz) has exclusive feelings for her. Against the backdrop of a tumultuous era, these three passionate men and women wandered aimlessly, meeting and missing each other, spending their entire lives in pursuit of true love. Life is insignificant, but true love is eternal... This film is the second part of the "Greek Trilogy".[Collapse]
