The story takes place in the summer of 1993. Chen Siyu (played by Geng Le), having failed the college entrance examination for the fourth time, has lost all hope for the exam. He and his girlfriend Guo Ping (played by Chang Jieping) decide to run away from home and search for the legendary Ganoderma lucidum cultivation technique, pinning all their hopes on it.
