Kurt (played by Tom Schilling) 's aunt was once imprisoned in a concentration camp and unfortunately died under the torture of Nazi doctor Carl (played by Sebastian Koch). Although Kurt was fortunate enough to flee to West Germany before the Berlin Wall was built, he spent his entire childhood in the shadow of the Nazis, which caused great trauma to his personality. Afterwards, Kurt entered the Dusseldorf Academy of Fine Arts. Unable to shake off the shadows of his past, he poured all his inner despair and pain onto the canvas. By chance, Kurt met a girl named Ellie (played by Paula Beer). The beautiful and lively Ellie gradually healed the wounds in Kurt's heart. When the two gathered the courage to take their relationship to the next level, they were strongly opposed by Ellie's father.[Collapse]
