The story is adapted from the famous World War II military event, the "Dunkirk Evacuation". At the beginning of World War II, 400,000 British and French Allied troops were besieged by the enemy on the beaches of Dunkirk. Facing the enemy's relentless approach, the situation was extremely critical. The British government and navy mobilized a large number of crew members and urged the people to rise up and rescue the troops. British soldier Tommy (played by Fionn Whitehead) meets Gibson and Alex one after another during his escape from the beach. Meanwhile, civilian boat owner Mr. Dawson (played by Mark Rylance), his son Peter and 17-year-old George also leave the UK and go to Dunkirk to rescue the soldiers. The three people successively rescued the navy (played by Cillian Murphy), pilot Collins and Tommy, while fighter pilot Farrell (played by Tom Hardy) fought tenaciously in the difficult situation of being attacked from both sides by the enemy. The story of the film is told from the perspectives of land, sea and air. Surrounded by the German army, everyone has to fight with their backs against the water for their own fate in order to have a chance to return home alive.[Collapse]
