A literary film that purely showcases the flavor of the Loess Plateau on the Chinese mainland, directed by mainland director Huang Jianxin, with Taiwanese actor Zhang Shi playing the male lead, Wu Kui. The entire film is meticulously produced and its narrative approach is quite flavorful. Unfortunately, many of the ritualistic scene arrangements in the film bear a strong resemblance to "Raise the Red Lantern", which greatly reduces the artistic value of the film.[Collapse]
