The story begins in Tokyo in 1980. Aiko Sasaoka (played by Mio Yuki) is a transfer student who moved from Tokyo to Okayama to live. Due to her strong accent, Aiko has never been able to integrate smoothly into her class. Her classmates even gave her the nickname "Weird Sasaoka" because of her accent. The only one who could soothe Ayako's mood was her boyfriend, Hideo (played by Saint Yano). Ayako, who was good at drawing, turned her love story with Hideo into a comic.
