Ruth (played by Felicity Jones) aspires to become a lawyer and, through her own efforts, is admitted to the law school of Harvard University. In the law school, Ruth was discriminated against and under pressure from all sides because she was a woman. Only her husband Martin (played by Armie Hammer) firmly supported his wife's choice because he understood that Ruth was full of talent and a sense of justice. Martin was diagnosed with cancer. After recovering, he took his children to work in New York. In order to be able to live with his family, Ruth proposed to the school that he could transfer to Columbia University to complete his studies, but was rejected. Afterwards, Ruth left Harvard and became a law professor at Rutgers University. However, even though she was so outstanding, no law firm was willing to hire her simply because she was a woman.[Collapse]
