The film is set against the backdrop of a real incident of police violence that occurred in the 18th arrondissement of Paris in 1993: A police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old Zaire teenager, Makome M 'Bowole, during his patrol. In the film, on the streets of Paris, there is a group of anti-government youth. The dispute began when one of them was seriously beaten by the police, and everyone held a grudge. Wenzi (played by Vincent Cassel) got a real gun and was determined to repay him. Their hatred and anger were everywhere, and this large-scale conflict with the police was on the verge of breaking out. During the melee, Wenzi was shot dead by the police. His accomplices also trembled and aimed at the police officer's head. Gunshots rang out... Whether it was the police or street hooligans, everyone lost control. The restlessness and agitation during adolescence are like an out-of-control rage, and no one is spared. Director Matthew Kasowice won the Best Director Award in the Main Competition section at the 48th Cannes Film Festival (1995).[Collapse]
