The day after Valram Aravize's burial, his body was dug up and placed in front of his window. The person who dug the tomb was a woman. Her testimony and memories in court brought people back to the era when the dictator Aravize was brutal and rampant. He threw countless innocent people into prison under the charge of being "enemies of the people". Alavize's son finally came to his senses and personally threw his father's body from the cliff into the big river... In this film, he employs astonishing visual techniques and tells a story about sin and punishment, repentance and awakening in poetic language. This film is the third installment of the Abrazer Trilogy. The first two are respectively "The Wish Tree" and "Prayer". "Repentance" is regarded as the "first spring swallow" of the Soviet film reform. Grand Jury Prize at the 40th Cannes Film Festival (1987)[Collapse]
