Gold was processed and endured numerous hardships before being transported to Edo. However, during the three-day journey, the wild reefs and currents posed the main threat to the gold-carrying ships. In the winter of the second year of Tenpo, a gold-carrying ship was wrecked at sea in the Echizen Mackerel Domain.
