The mysterious and open Golden Triangle region is located at the junction of the three countries of Indochina and is a no-man's land. In 1954, the Taiwan authorities responded to the UN resolution and ordered the withdrawal of the Nationalist troops stranded in the Golden Triangle region. However, at least 110,000 Nationalist troops and their families remained there. Fan Long (played by Tony Leung Chiu-wai), a staff officer of the Nationalist Army, escaped from the prisoner camp and returned to the Nationalist army camp after going through numerous hardships. Soldier Ading (played by Lin Zhining) also returned to the army. Veteran Lao Xie (played by Ng Man-tat) gave Ading, who had lost his comrade-in-arms, brotherly care. Commander He of the Nationalist Army (played by Ko Chun-hsiung) negotiated with the Burmese side, attempting to lay down their weapons and submit.
