Patterson (played by Adam Driver) lives in Patterson, New Jersey. This man, who has the same name as his hometown, is a bus driver and leads a mundane cohaster life with his girlfriend Laura (played by Golshifteh Farahani) and a bulldog. Every day, driving a bus, I repeat the same route and lead an uneventful life. Patterson loved writing poetry. He always carried a notebook with him, jotting down the lines that danced in his mind. But he had never thought of publishing his poems in a book. His only reader was Laura. In sharp contrast to Patterson, Laura is a born artist. Every day, all kinds of strange ideas flash through her mind.
