In a small town, Maddie adopted a boy named Francis, but her husband and mother-in-law did not agree with her actions, thinking the boy was very suspicious. When Francis grew up, he was encouraged by his girlfriend to leave the farm, but eventually he decided to return to the small town and bravely embrace his new life.

Focusing on issues such as teenage suicide and mental illness, it tells the story of a high school student tormented by social phobia who fabricates a story in an attempt to approach the family of a classmate who has committed suicide. The exploration of "outsiders", psychological trauma and human nature is delicate, personal and touching.
