Ishimatsu

At the beginning of the 20th century in Japan, a small mountain village located upstream of the Mogami River in Yamagata Prefecture was covered with thick snow. The Gu Village family sat together in a circle, living in poverty. Seven-year-old girl Ashin (played by Shinon Hamada) didn't receive the good news that she could enter the classroom. Instead, she was ordered by her father, Sozo (played by Goro Inagaki), to work as a domestic helper in a wood store.
