Plot:
During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, Xiulan, the daughter of a forest farm owner, and Changle, a couple, were deeply in love. However, they met the Japanese officer, Major Yokoyama, who developed feelings for Xiulan. After Xiulan refused, his feelings escalated into jealousy and rage. He brutally beat Changle and enlisted her among the laborers, tormenting her to death. Xiulan was struggling between two relationships.
