The Kang family has been living in the old house in Xiguan, Guangzhou for several decades. Kang Bo (played by Gong Jintang) and Kang Aunt (played by Huang Jinshang) have four sons, namely Qi Guang (played by Su Zhidan), Qi Zong (played by Guo Xu), Qi Yao (played by Peng Xinzhi) and Qi Zu (played by Xu Ruoqi). All four sons have recently got married. The eldest, Ah Guang, married a girl from Henan (played by Ding Ling), the second, Ah Zong, married a local girl (played by Hu Yanfen), the third, Ah Yao, married a girl from Shanghai, and the fourth, Ah Zu, was even more remarkable, marrying a German girl (played by Hao Lianlu). Now the whole room was filled with people from all over the country. Cultures from different regions merged here.
