Poor and down-and-out Joe (played by Jack Bittner) receives a mysterious revelation in his cramped room. To make a living, he starts a business selling dreams. People crowded to his door. A bank clerk dreamed of a woman being entangled by a nightingale. A girl who was obsessed with signing contracts witnessed the love of a model man on an assembly line. The clerk's wife had the illusion of having a conversation with a gentleman and presided over the screening of a silent film. Before the criminal who forced his way in, rotating circles kept emerging, which seemed to symbolize desire. The girl and the blind old man brought Joe strange wire toys. After seeing off all the guests, Joe himself immediately fell into a dream. He escaped from a strange card game and found himself facing an even more mysterious encounter. This film was completed by Hans Richter in collaboration with several artists including Duchamp, Calder and Max Ernst, and won the Special Award at the 1947 Venice Film Festival.[Collapse]
