Oliver (played by John Howard Davies) was abandoned at birth. After living in an orphanage for nine years, he was sent to a coffin shop as an apprentice. Unable to bear the unbearable life, Oliver ran away from his master and came to Paris, where he met the pickpocket Fachin (played by Alec Guinness). In this way, Oliver was forced to start his career as a pickpocket. By chance, Oliver was arrested by the police. Fortunately, he was taken in by the kind-hearted old gentleman Blero (played by Henry Stephenson). Oliver, who had been wandering all his life, finally experienced the taste of home. Unfortunately, the pickpocket gang was unwilling to let Oliver go. They kidnapped him. Among them, a girl named Nancy (played by Kay Walsh) felt pity for Oliver. She decided to disobey the boss's order and do everything she could to help this poor child.[Collapse]
