In 1970, the legendary director Orson Wells (Citizen Kane) began shooting a new film. The cast was also very star-studded, including John Houston, Peter Bogdanovic, Susan Stastberg and Wells' late collaborator Oya Kodar. Eventually, this film became his last work. However, due to financial issues, the final production process was halted in 1976 and soon became notorious in the industry, unable to be completed or released. After Wells' death, over a thousand films were buried in Paris for 30 years. It was not until March 2017 that producers Frank Marshall (who had served as the production manager during the early shooting of "The Wind") and Philip Jon Reza led the realization of Wells' vision. "On the Other Side of the Wind" features a new score by Oscar-winning composer Michelle Legran (of "The Umbrella of Cherbourg") and has been edited by a technical team including Oscar-winning editor Bob Muravsky (of "The Bomb Disposal Team"). It tells the story of renowned filmmaker J.J. "Jack" Hannafort (played by Houston). After wandering around Europe for several years, he returned to Hollywood, preparing to release an innovative film and announce his comeback. Wells' last work satirizes the classic film studio system of the time and the new institutions that aim to break the old pattern of the film industry. It is both a fascinating microcosm of the long history of film production and a highly anticipated "new" work by a master director.[Collapse]
