Seven-year-old Vannis (played by Georges Corraface) lives in Istanbul with his family. His grandfather owns a spice store, where Vannis spent his childhood. Grandfather taught Vannis various knowledge about life, the universe and geography by analogizing the properties of spices. The young Vannis also fell in love with the Turkish girl, Sammi, who played with him. However, not long after, political riots disrupted the happy family. Vannis and his parents were expelled from the camera for holding Greek nationality and moved to Athens, while his grandfather, who was a Turkish citizen, was able to stay. Time flies. At the age of forty, Vannis has become an astronomy professor and is highly respected, but he feels that life is full of confusion, as if always lacking a bit of spice. For 35 years since he left his hometown, he still longs to return to his childhood hometown and to see that beautiful girl again... This film is adapted from the true experiences of the screenwriter and director Tassos Boulmetis.[Collapse]
