The story takes place in 1943. The repeated invasions by the Japanese army disrupted the peaceful life of the Korean people. For a time, smoke of war rose everywhere, and the common people lost their homes on which they relied for survival, leading a miserable and displaced life. In a small village in Guchang County, there lives a 14-year-old girl named Jung-min (played by Kang Hye-na). Jung-min was born into an ordinary but loving family and has been bathed in the kind care of her parents since childhood. The arrival of the war brought an end to Zhengmin's carefree life. One day, the Japanese army occupied the village and, without a word, took Zhengmin away and sent her onto a train bound for Japan. Accompanying her were all girls of about the same age as Zhengmin. Each of them was uneasy in their hearts, not knowing what kind of fate awaited them. Zhengmin and the other girls became the targets of the Japanese army's venting of their batical desires, leading a miserable life in darkness. However, deep down in Zhengmin's heart, there was an unwavering hope, that is, to survive and return to her hometown.[Collapse]
