Masahiro (played by Tatsuya Nakadai) is a notorious rogue. In his middle age, he had a daughter named Hanako and doted on her particularly. Masagoro's domineering style made him make many enemies outside. As Hanako grew up day by day, danger was always approaching her. To protect Hanako, Masagoro was willing to pay any price. Matsue (played by Masako Natsume) is the adopted daughter of Masako and the elder sister of Hanako. She was chosen by Masako because of her naturally beautiful appearance. Originally, her younger brother came to Masako's home with Matsue, but his brother ran away, leaving Matsue alone to support himself. Masagoro wanted to marry Hanako to a young man, but the young man fell in love with Matsue, which led to discord within Masagoro's family. Masakoro doted on his mistress but neglected his wife. His wife drank heavily every day and eventually fell seriously ill and died. What Masayoshi didn't expect was that Hanako actually defected to his enemy.
