In the battle against Norway, Macbeth, the cousin of King Duncan of Scotland (played by Nicholas Selby), performed outstandingly and was knighted. Long before being knighted, Macbeth (played by Jon Finch) and his friend Bancor (played by Martin Shaw) had heard from three witches the prophecy that he would be ennobled and eventually become king. The fulfillment of the prophecy aroused the hidden desires in Macbeth's heart. Subsequently, he and his wife (played by Francesca Annis) killed the king who came to visit his castle and framed the king's attendants. The two princes, sensing the bloody conspiracy behind the assassination, fled to England and Ireland respectively. Macbeth, who had successfully ascended the throne, was overconfident. However, he clearly remembered the witch's prophecy about Bancor, that although Bancor could not become the king, his descendants would reign for generations. Unwilling to be the wedding dress for others, Macbeth instructed his confidants to kill his friend, thus embarking on a bloody and irreversible path... This film is adapted from Macbeth, one of Shakespeare's four Great tragedies.[Collapse]
