The Morrison family of four moved to a small town in Australia. Father Simon (Eric?) Tomason (played by Erik Thomson) is a local military officer, and his mother is Maggie (Toni?) Toni Collette plays Colette, who is pregnant and about to give birth. Her eldest son, Charlie (Luke), Luke Ford (played by Ford) suffers from autism, which is characterized by language and learning disorders, making it impossible for him to interact normally with others.
