This film is adapted from a novel of the same name and tells the story of a boy's sexual awakening process. Randy, a 17-year-old black boy, is the lead singer of the school choir and grew up in a devout religious southern family. Because of his sister's disappearance, the entire family has fallen apart, and Randy still has to deal with the occasional and unexpected same-sex fantasies. He and his best friends from the school's drama club decided to stage a male-male version of "Romeo and Juliet". Meanwhile, the white boy Marshall happened to intrude into Randy's life and launched a strong pursuit of him.
