My Pet is an Elephant was inspired by a true story and was set in the exotic southwestern border. It tells the story of Lao Qi, a circus owner played by Andy Lau who makes a living by performing elephant shows. In order to provide enough elephant grass for the elephants, he engages in a battle of wits with Jessica, a spoiled and headstrong young lady played by You Jingru
